Bradleigh Bell

Actor, musician, playwright, theatre maker

Bradleigh is a playwright, actor, and musician whose work is rooted in compassionate connections. She creates art that captures moments both subtle and profound, that resonate with her audience on a deeply personal level. For Bradleigh, the true power of theater lies in the ability to create a visceral connection; when a performance stirs a sense of empathy, that is the heart of her craft.

She also believes in using art to confront discomfort and complexity. By diving into moments that are unsettling or challenging to watch, her work encourages audiences to engage with difficult truths, acknowledging experiences beyond their own. Through the lens of shared history and current events, Bradleigh’s art explores activist themes that foster understanding and promote empathy. Her goal is to spark meaningful dialogue, helping others connect to experiences outside their own.

Original Works:

Lockdown follows four students in the endeavor to find something to do while they wait for their teacher to arrive for class. As time passes and the students realize what's going on, they immediately snap into their practiced lockdown procedures, moving like robots because this moment is so rehearsed. They cower in fear thinking about how it could be their last day on earth, and how they could’ve predicted it. When the lockdown is confirmed over the school’s speaker system, the children decide they should say goodbye to their parents in case they don’t get another chance. They give tearful goodbyes as they reflect on their fear, preparedness, and sadness that their lives have come to this moment. In the heat of the moment, we learn about who has assimilated to this life and who can’t take the pressure. When the police arrive to save the students, they learn that everything was not as it seemed. And their worst fear, dying in a school shooting, was not going to come true.
